Is your RCD Tripping? MCB Tripping? Fuse box Tripping?

RCD Tripping | MCB Tripping | Fuse Blown

If your home is suddenly without power, or your RCD is tripping. The first place to look is your fuse box or Consumer unit. A faulty appliance or power surge may have tripped a switch or blown a fuse. First see if all the switches point upwards – if not, simply flick them all upward. Or check if any fuses have blown. If you’re still without electricity, you can try to reset the main switch.

Although, if your fuse box / RCD tripping is a re-occurrence, the most likely cause is a faulty appliance or faulty wiring. You can identify a faulty appliance by turning off and unplugging all electrical items and plugging them back in until the fuse box trips again. The appliance will then need repairing by a professional electrician.

Other causes for your RCD Tripping

Other reasons for your fuse box / RCD tripping include; overloaded circuits, damaged cords, or a fault with the main fuse box, all of which should be resolved by a qualified electrician to ensure your safety. You can also check our service menu for more information click here

Our process of elimination

Before our Electrician look’s into the problem, they’ll make sure all your electrical appliances are switched off. They’ll then check your Consumer unit for any RCD / MCB that has tripped or fuse box for blown fuses and replace them if needed. They’ll also test the wiring and connections, point out any faulty appliances, broken, damaged cables or overloaded power sockets. If you have an old fuse box, we recommend you upgrade to the new 18th Edition RCD Consumer Unit. This is something that the electrician who’s at your property will discuss with you. they’ll recommend the best solution and give you a free quote for the work.
